Also known as Cartilaginous Fish, these fish have cartilage instead of bone. There are two subclasses, Elasmobranchii (including sharks, rays, skates, and sawfish) and Holocephali (also known as ghost sharks).
Since these animals have no ribs, their internal organs have no support meaning they could crush themselves if removed from the water. Also, the spleen has to produce red blood cells since these fish lack bone marrow.
